Brigadier Ran Singh Ahlawat
03/09/1919 to 10/02/1993

A simple, straight forward, self made man, Preferred to live in the village to the end when he had a beautiful house in Delhi. Distinguished himself first as a soldier and later as a outstanding political leader of unmatched dynamism and missionary zeal for bringing development to the villages of Jhajjar district on a scale never seen before or after by the people of this area. In 1968 he resigned from the army to contest elections and won by the highest margin of over 27000 votes in the entire state. He was again Speaker and agriculture Minister from 1977 to 1979 and then voluntarily resigned his seat in the Vidhan Sabha in order to change his political party, the only 3 examples of such prosperity in political life seen in the entire country. Rapid development was made in Beri constituency as under during his tenure.

  • a) 32 Villages electrified.
  • b) 30 villages linked by metal roads such as:
    Chhochhi, Bhambheva, Girawar, Majra, Milikpur, Bakra, Acchej, Paharipur to Dujana, Maharana, Siwana, Chimni etc.
  • c) 7 new canals viz Hundoo Minor, Badan Singh Minor, Milikpur Minor, Extension of Canal to Dhaur village.
  • d) Water works at Dujana, Dighal etc.
  • e) Government Degree College at Dujana. Haryana Government has renamed it as Brigadier Ran Singh Government College after his death.
  • f) 10 veterinary hospitals, Holstein Cattle Breeding Centre at Lakaria, 7 Dispensaries, 12 Post Offices.
  • g) Employment to rural youth by heavy recruitment to Army and Government Services on a scale unmatched by any one in the area.
